Welcome to the Grove Ave. Music Studio, offering private lessons for voice and piano taught by accomplished Chicago musician Kara Kesselring. Whether you’re inspired by Bach or The Beatles, you’re in good hands. Kara caters the style, schedule, and duration of each lesson to the individual student. You will move at your own pace and no prior experience is necessary. Grove Ave. Music Studio welcomes all levels of musical ability, from performers to hobbyists.

Now is the time to follow your inspiration. All ages are welcome.

Kara is classically trained in piano and voice with a B.A. Degree in vocal performance from the University of Iowa. She currently teaches private voice, piano, and vocal jazz classes at Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and has 20 years of experience in music education.

Piano, Voice, Wiggleworms

Faculty Since 1999 – Teaching styles include beginners, pop, jazz, chords, classical repertoire and theory. She also teaches vocal technique, sight-reading and ear training and is available for accompaniment for vocalists. Piano students age 6 and up, and voice students age 16 and up are welcome.

Kara teaches the group Vocal Jazz Ensemble class which brings together jazz vocalists and instrumentalists. This eight week class works on improvisation, phrasing, transposing and learning jazz standards.

Wiggleworms Since 2008 – Let’s PLAY music! Silly, musical, playful, and wonderful, Wiggleworms is a hands-on exploration of music. Engaged and curious, children sing, dance, learn finger plays, tell story songs, and explore rhythm instruments for little hands! Trained educators and thriving musicians, Wiggleworms teachers may lead class on acoustic guitar, `ukulele, autoharp, banjo, and gathering drums. Grownups and kids discover American and world folk songs and delight in rock, pop, and fun original children’s music.
